Artist Statement

Do we really look at our surroundings during our everyday routine of life? What are we missing as we rush to school, work or even as we take our daily walks? Answers to those questions led me to ponder and take a closer look at my everyday surroundings. I evaluate color, form, line, light, textures and composition. All these components are integral when I look at capturing an image. I distill larger images that I photograph and present them in simpler terms, most in minimalistic form and some to a point of abstraction. I present my images just as I see them. I do not manipulate my images with filters or saturate colors. I shoot all my images using my iPhone. I want the viewer to see what I saw at that moment in time, the richness and true beauty of our surroundings.
